Torrance Airport annual operations have veried widely over the years--from a minimum of 98,515 in 1962 to a maximum of 439,145 in 1976. The City's attempts, beginning in February of 2024, to strangle operations at the airport have resulted in a drastic reduction in operations. Total operations for 2024 are projected to be at, or very near, the historic 1962 low point.
Looking at the monthly totals for 2024, it is clear that the implementation of landing fees on 1 February had an immediate and devastating effect. Comparing 2023 with 2024 illustrates the devastating results.
